Common Misconceptions:

We do not offer mowing, trimming and edging or any type of lawnmower repair services. Most landscaping services are not licensed to fertilize and provide services we offer.

Another misconception is that customers often expect our treatments to work without watering or mowing at an appropriate height.

Name Origin Story:

The founders of Lawn Doctor were able to treat some of the worst lawn conditions and their customers started referring to them as doctors. So, they decided to name their business Lawn Doctor.

Starting Up Stories:

We invested in Lawn Doctor after considering a variety of business opportunities. We are a firefighter and a Talent Acquisition leader who appreciate our outdoor spaces and struggled to find reliable services for our own home. So, we decided to learn the trade and do it ourselves with the hope of eventually retiring from our “day jobs” and focus solely on this business. Our goal is to provide employment opportunities particularly for Veterans, retired first responders and people with disabilities as our way to give back to our community.

Our biggest hurdle is that this franchise is new in the Pacific NW and has never existed in Oregon. There is no brand recognition, and we get more calls for lawn mower maintenance, water feature repair, mowing, etc. than the services we actually offer.

It has been rewarding to involve our two teenage sons and a selected group of their friends in helping us start up this business. They are learning the grind of starting a new business.
