Sherwood’s Highway 99W Pedestrian Bridge Project Moving Forward

The City of Sherwood is building a 900-foot-long pedestrian bridge over Highway 99W, connecting the Sherwood Family YMCA with Sherwood High School. This project aims to improve pedestrian and bicycle access across the highway.

Key Construction Dates and Road Closures

To install the bridge, Highway 99W and nearby roads will have scheduled weekend closures in 2025:

  • March 7–10, 2025 – Full closure of Highway 99W between SW Edy Road and SW Sunset Boulevard to install the bridge’s arch span.
  • Late March 2025 – SW Elwert Road and SW Kruger Road will close for a weekend to install additional bridge spans.
  • Late Spring 2025 – Another weekend closure to complete remaining arch spans over Kruger Road and stormwater areas.

Detour Routes and Traffic Impacts

Drivers should expect delays and plan for alternative routes. Detour maps will be posted along major roads, and flaggers will be stationed at key intersections. Digital message signs will be placed two weeks before each closure to provide advance notice.

Project Timeline

  • Spring–Summer 2025: Crews will install bridge decks, lighting, railings, and approach ramps near the YMCA.
  • Early Fall 2025: Project completion and opening.
