What is the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce?

The Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce is a member-driven and professionally staffed nonprofit 501(c)(6) association of business people committed to improving the economic climate and quality of life in the Chehalem Valley. The organization primarily serves the cities of Newberg, Dundee and St. Paul although membership is open to anyone who lives, works or does business in the area.  The Chamber consists of 400+ members, who are business and organizations, but also includes schools, public agencies, churches, other nonprofit organizations and individuals.

How does the Chamber work?

The Chamber is organized to take action on major issues affecting the economic well being of the community. The Chamber’s vision is to advance community prosperity.  The Chamber’s policies and programs are determined by its members through a 20 member Board of Directors led by the elected President of the Board. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and directs the implementation of the organization’s policies programs and supervises staff. The Chamber works through standing committees and focuses on issues in such areas as public policy, local government, tourism, transportation, and education. Issues are researched at the committee level. Actions are proposed to the Board and become policy once approved by the Board. Positions and policy statements are then publicized through a variety of media.
