Chehalem Valley Chamber Announces 2025 Community Awards Honorees
NEWBERG, OR – The Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Community Awards, recognizing outstanding individuals and businesses who have made significant contributions to the region. These honorees will be celebrated at the Community Awards Gala on March 19, 2025, from 6–9 PM at The Allison Inn & Spa. The evening will feature a tribute to these exceptional leaders and a performance by renowned entertainer Jon Armstrong.
2025 Award Recipients:
Volunteer of the Year – Dr. Paula Radich
Dr. Radich has demonstrated unwavering dedication to education and community service. She served as Superintendent of Newberg-Dundee Public Schools for 13 years before stepping in as Interim Superintendent for Salem-Keizer and Beaverton School Districts. Most recently, she volunteered—without compensation—as Interim Superintendent for Newberg-Dundee during a critical time, ensuring stability and leadership in the district. Her commitment to student success, faculty support, and administrative excellence has been instrumental in fostering a thriving academic environment. Her selfless contributions and dedication to educational leadership exemplify the highest standards of volunteerism, making her a deserving recipient of this honor.
Educator of the Year – Tim Timmerman
A dedicated and inspiring art professor at George Fox University, Tim Timmerman has influenced students through his engaging teaching style and commitment to fostering creativity. His mentorship has guided countless young artists, earning him admiration from both students and colleagues. Beyond the classroom, Tim actively contributes to local arts initiatives, championing public art projects and supporting emerging artists in the community. His unwavering commitment to inspiring the next generation through artistic expression and mentorship makes him a standout educator in our community.
Business People of the Year – Robin & Danny Sikkens, Social Goods
As the owners of Social Goods, Robin and Danny Sikkens have built more than a business—they’ve created a true community gathering space. Known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, Social Goods hosts live music, trivia nights, and fundraisers while actively supporting local organizations and initiatives. Robin and Danny’s passion for fostering a vibrant local culture extends beyond their establishment, as they frequently collaborate with other businesses and nonprofits to strengthen community ties. Their dedication to community-building and exceptional leadership in local business make them exemplary recipients of this award.
Junior Citizen of the Year – Elise Steffen
A standout student leader, athlete, and mentor, Elise has made a significant impact in the community. As a Newberg Old Fashioned Festival Princess, a varsity ski team captain, and a dedicated volunteer working with young children, Elise has demonstrated resilience and a deep commitment to service. She has also been an advocate for mental health awareness among her peers, working to create supportive environments for students facing personal challenges. Her ability to lead by example and uplift those around her embodies the essence of this award.
Wine Country Award – Revino, Inc.
Under the leadership of Keenan O’Hern, Revino is transforming sustainability in the wine industry with its innovative bottle reuse program. By reintroducing reusable glass bottles, Revino is reducing waste, lowering carbon footprints, and partnering with Oregon wineries to promote eco-friendly packaging solutions. Keenan has been a vocal advocate for sustainable practices in the wine industry, working closely with producers to educate and implement change. Revino’s pioneering efforts have positioned them as a leader in winemaking, setting an example for wineries nationwide.
Business of the Year – Jem 100
A staple in Newberg since 1979, Jem 100 has been serving up classic American fare and hand-scooped ice cream for generations. Now under new family ownership, the beloved local diner continues its tradition of supporting community events and giving back through fundraisers and school programs. Their dedication to preserving the nostalgic charm of their establishment while evolving to meet modern needs reflects their deep commitment to their patrons. Jem 100’s welcoming environment and consistent support for local youth programs have cemented their place as a cornerstone of the community. Their long-standing service, strong community values, and dedication to local engagement make them the perfect recipient for this award.
Citizens of the Year – Loni & Scott Parrish
Loni and Scott Parrish have played an instrumental role in shaping the Newberg community. Loni helped found the Chehalem Cultural Center and ART Elements Gallery, fostering a thriving arts scene, while Scott led A-dec, one of the region’s largest employers. In addition to their work in the arts and business, Loni and Scott have supported countless non-profits and educational initiatives, providing resources and mentorship to those striving to make a difference. Their vision and generosity have made a lasting impact on the cultural and economic vitality of the Chehalem Valley, making them truly deserving of this honor.
