Mission Statement
Alt exists to provide small business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals with functional, creative, and flexible workspaces so that they can grow their businesses in the way they see fit.
Business Products or Services
Alt Coworking provides workspace memberships that vary and cater to the needs of the members. Every membership comes with strong wifi, unlimited coffee, free black & white printing, meeting room access, and 24/7 access. Membership range from flex use at $195 per month, to private offices at $1200-1500 per month.
Business Industry Standing
Unlike other franchise coworking spaces, Alt is a small business made for small businesses. It doesn’t feel cold and impersonal; it is fun, creative, collaborative, and still professional for all types of working individuals.
Customer Engagement
One of my very first members, Jackie with Just Honest Bookkeeping, has gotten to know many of the other members and has even become the bookkeeper for several of them. She’s doing so well, that she hired her first employee last fall. That’s what I love to see here… members getting to know each other, building their network, and growing their business. It’s so great!
Misconceptions
It’s not really a misconception, it’s a lack of concept mostly – there are many people in this area who are not familiar with what coworking is. Coworking spaces are all different, but tend to share the same goal of helping small businesses, professionals and the community by offering a place for them to work and stay focused, network, and have fun. The experience is almost like working for a large business and having all these great office amenities and benefits that a large business would have. But instead, you’re might be an entrepreneur with a small business and small budget, and the “coworkers” are other members who are just trying to grow like you are. It’s a really cool concept, and such a need in this area, especially now, and I feel very fortunate to help provide the first coworking space in Yamhill County.
Name Origin Story
Some people ask if Alt has a special meaning, but it doesn’t. 😅 It just refers to alternate or alternative. Because we’re different.
Starting Up Stories
This idea came to me back in 2020 when I was struggling with working for myself. I would work at home and from coffee shops, but wouldn’t have a way to print contracts, couldn’t rely on the internet, I never knew if I’d get a seat next to the outlet to keep my laptop charged… so many issues! And at home, I’d find myself distracted by the dishes, laundry, food, tv, etc. I knew I wanted to work in a place that was professional yet creative, and could allow me to focus and get work done. After a year of planning, I opened Alt Coworking in McMinnville in August of 2021. I tell people that the only reason Alt is here is because I needed it myself. And I’m so glad I did!
