What is your Company’s Mission?

To help people with their careers.

How would you describe your product or services?

Jungle Media produces marketing content (video, photography and copywriting) for any medium, Website, YouTube, Social Media, Cable TV, Digital Ad placement, etc.

In a completely digital and electronic world of communication, it is through content that you educate, inspire, inform and attract customers.   The consumer of today is much more sophisticated with regard to media.  They do not want to be patronized, coerced, fooled or cajoled.  The best way to attract a customer is to tell them the truth, and to be authentic in your presentation.  Give them the information (or the entertainment) that they want and let them decide whether you are a solution for them.

How are we different?

Marketing companies or agencies have been around forever.  However, when hiring a consultant or an agency, you will find that a great deal of what you pay for is the advice and the effort of placing your content.  The content itself is often secondary, since the creation of the content represents “an expense” to them.  Jungle Media spends every one of your dollars on the creation of the content. Whether you have internal staff that help with your marketing or work with various agencies on your marketing strategy, Jungle Media will create content that shines the best light on your business.

What is your favorite customer reaction to your business?

Very often, a customer will comment that the very act of working with me on content helped them to better understand how their customers perceive their business.  Sometimes the business will even change its motto or language, based on a script that gets developed for a project.  We have many examples of business owners that will state that they never had a better handle on how to promote themselves as they did after working on content with Jungle Media.

Are there any misconceptions about your business or services rendered?

Yes.  With the advancement of camera and other technology, specifically consumer smart phones, many people think that it takes no time or effort to create professional content.  People see beautiful content and assume that you just need to press record, or click a few buttons to get beautiful results.  The production process for video is more time consuming than most people can possibly imagine.  However, over the last 10 years, the need for content has exploded.  This has led to Jungle Media creating a variety of low cost packages, to meet the need.  You get the professional attention to detail, but scaled down to an optimum level to bring costs in at a fraction of what they were 10 years ago.

If your business has a unique name, please provide the back-story.

Many years ago, myself and a handful of colleagues from Tektronix went to lunch at Round Table Pizza in Beaverton to talk about the idea of starting a digital content production company.  We talked about trends in the industry, camera equipment, new editing tools and we all got excited about the idea.  After a time, we agreed that we had everything that we needed but a name.  We sat there for 15 minutes throwing out all kinds of ideas.  Portland Media, New Wave productions, Digital Media, etc. None of them stuck.  Then a song started playing on the jukebox.  Jungle Love by Steve Miller Band.  I immediately new that was the name for me.  Jungle Media.  It symbolized adventure, the wild ride to come, lush imagery, bright colors, etc. Some of the others weren’t as excited, but we left with that as an idea.  Within a year, I left Tektronix and started the company.  No one else was interested.  They all went on to continue their successful careers in high technology.

Please share any hurdles, challenges or funny stories involved in getting started or operating.

In the last 24 years, marketing communication has changed from VHS tapes, Yellow Pages ads, magazine ads and brochures, to a constant stream of digital content available on demand to more devices than there are people on the planet.  In order to remain competitive in the world of content, it takes constant attention to technology, trends, equipment, techniques and competition.  This is not a business where you can ever rest.  It keeps me young!
