On the first Saturday in May, wine enthusiasts gathered to sip, swirl, and savor wine from 25 wineries at the Third Annual Taste Dundee. With 50 wines in total there was a whole lot of wine to discover. This is always one of the first events during Oregon Wine Month, held annually in May.
While the Willamette Valley is best known for Pinot Noir, there was also Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Syrah, Sparkling wine, and Cabernet Sauvignon poured. There was a nice array of white, pink, red, and bubbles to suit every palate.
VIP Guests were allowed early admission to the event, received swanky gift bags, logo stem glasses and interaction with winemakers and special bites and had a sparkling wine starter. We even sabered a bottle of sparkling wine which was an exciting way to open the event.
There were 450 attendees who turned out in their spring finery to enjoy a day of wine tasting and noshing on delightful bites served by local restaurants Dundee Bistro, Red Hills Market, and Babica Hen. What is a wine event without cheese? There was an assortment of cheese provided by Bon Appetit that complemented the selection of wine.
Participating wineries made their wine available at a discounted rate for half and full case purchases. Wineries included Alexana Winery, Angela Estate Winery, Cathedral Ridge Winery, Chapter 24 Vineyards, Dobbes Family Estate, Domaine Trouvere, Lange Estate, Durant Vineyards, Duck Pond Cellars, Erath Vineyards, The Four Graces, Fox Farm Vineyards, Granville Wines, Hawkins Cellars, Hyland Estates, Knudsen Vineyards, Mellen Meyer Winery, Methven Family Vineyards, Panther Creek Cellars, Purple Hands Winery, Script Cellars, Sokol Blosser Winery, Stoller Family Estate, Tertulia Cellars, Varnum Vintners, and Zerba Cellars.
This year’s event was held under tent in Billick Park in Dundee. Music was provided by Half Grass’d String Band , providing lively background music. Food trucks provided additional food for purchase. It was a beautiful day for enjoying wine.
